Arielle Schwartz, MA, LPC is a licensed psychotherapist and a clinical psychological doctoral candidate.
Arielle’s training and work includes body-centered psychotherapy and Eye Movement Desensitization
and Reprocessing (EMDR). She is a certified yoga instructor and is skilled at integrating mindfulness
meditation and yoga into therapy. She has taught courses psychology courses and yoga throughout
the local community at Naropa University , Colorado University, and with the city of Boulder recreation centers.
Psychotherapy: Arielle has 12 years of experience as a psychotherapist and provides a supportive
therapeutic presence that combines the intuitive art of therapy with the knowledge of effective
techniques and interventions. Her work focuses on helping people cope effectively with grief,
depression, anxiety, panic, post-traumatic stress, and bipolar mood disorders. One of her specializations
is in working with pregnant or postpartum women who may be experiencing adjustment difficulties or
postpartum depression. Her work with children and teenagers centers on improving self-esteem,
developing tools to cope with difficult life experiences, encouraging expression of feelings in healthy
ways, and learning social skills. With young children, Arielle provides nondirective play therapy to
assist children in expressing themselves, accessing inner resiliency, and resolving trauma. She works
with parents in therapy to support them in raising children with challenging behaviors, emotional
problems, and developmental delays.
Psychological Testing: Arielle provides comprehensive psychological testing to assess cognitive and
personality functioning, academic achievement, learning disabilities, diagnostic clarification, and
treatment recommendations. She also provides play-based assessment of preschool age children
as part of a Trans-Disciplinary team in collaboration with other services providers at the Colorado

Kenneth Suslak, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist with forty years of experience working
with children, families, couples, and adults. He has directed mental health clinics, served private
practice clients, and taught doctoral level students. He is a core professor at the Union Institute
and University, a distance learning graduate program for midlife adults. He serves as an
international consultant in countries where children have been impacted by war, political
violence and social unrest helping to set up programs to meet the many needs of these traumatized
children and their families. He loves supervising other therapists and imparting his knowledge,
experience, and compassion to others.
Ken has extensive training and experience in “traditional” and “non-traditional” approaches
and has been the co-director of the training program at the Gestalt Institute of Denver and
the Rockies. He utilizes non-verbal expressive play therapy as well as family systems
approaches to working with children. He specializes in the impact of separation, loss, abuse
and other trauma on children and adults. He believes that we all have an innate capacity to
grow and develop, that trauma and other life experiences interfere with that natural process,
and views clients as being stuck rather than as sick. He lives in the foothills of Boulder with
