Harriet Edelstein, LCSW, has thirty years experience with the Boulder Valley School District, and earned membership in the Academy of Certified Social Workers. She is trained in many modalities of child, family, and elder therapy. Harriet won the prestigious Impact on Education Award for her innovative creation and implementation of a school wide social skills/conflict resolution program (adopted as a model for other schools in the area). Through the SIED Intensive Program, Harriet has worked with the most seriously emotionally/behaviorally disturbed elementary age children.

Harriet is a master at positive behavior management solutions and parental guidance and education. She also incorporates art therapy and play therapy techniques in her work with children and families. Harriet works collaboratively with school and medical personnel and does school consultations as part of her comprehensive approach to impacting the lives of the children under her care. She accepts Medicaid and Medicare.

Harriet has served her community in many ways: As Board of Directors member for The Parenting Place, 20 years on the Boulder County Child Protection Review Board, a founding member of Friendship Cities Project (relief work in Nicaragua), board member for Mile High Red Cross Mental Health Disaster Team (responded to catastrophes such as forest fires and hurricanes), and worked with orphans in Sri Lanka following the tsunami of 2004. In addition Harrriet served as co-chair of the Boulder County Aging Advisory Council, and via governor’s appointments, served on the Colorado Commission on Aging. Harriet is a resource for seniors and has a special interest in meeting their emotional needs.

Harriet’s breadth of education includes: BA, Sarah Lawrence College, MA in history, University of California, MA in social work from the University of Denver.

Arielle Schwartz, PhD, LPC (clinical psych, MA Somatic body-centered psychology). Certified EMDR/EMDRIA (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Arielle provides specialized treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and facilitation/consultation for trainees in EMDR. She offers a client centered approach for adults and children. Specializations include: play therapy, collaborative care for chronic illness/chronic pain, women’s health during pregnancy, and postpartum.  Arielle (as a certified yoga instructor) has taught for: Naropa University , University of Colorado, and the City of Boulder. She integrates mindfulness meditation and yoga into therapy.  

Psychotherapy: Arrielle combines the intuitive art of therapy with the knowledge of effective techniques and interventions. Her 14 years of experience includes helping people cope effectively with grief, depression, anxiety, panic, post-traumatic stress, and bipolar mood disorders. She specializes in working with pregnant/postpartum women experiencing adjustment difficulties or postpartum depression. Child and teen work helps improve self-esteem and social skills, develop coping tools for difficult life experience, and find healthy ways to express feelings. Arielle provides nondirective play therapy to assist young children to express themselves, access inner resiliency, and resolve trauma. She supports parents whose children express anxiety, challenging behaviors, and emotional problems.

 
Psychological Testing: Comprehensive testing assesses cognitive/personality functioning, academic achievement, learning disabilities, diagnostic clarification, and includes treatment recommendations. Play-based assessment for preschool age children is available as part of a Trans-Disciplinary Team with other services providers at the Colorado Therapies and Aquatic Center.

Dr. Annie Brook Ph.D., LPC has her doctorate in pre and perinatal therapy. Dr. Brook provides therapy to help children resolve trauma, work through difficult birth imprints, and help parents and children connect more deeply. Annie has worked extensively  and successfully to help children resolve attachment disruption or dysregulation due to imprints related to birth conditions such as:  c-section,  anesthesia, induction, or other chemical imprints, forceps/vacuum suction, intensive care unit trauma, incubation, surgery, or separation from Mother. Issues of interrupted bonding are repaired for both child and parent allowing for more contactfulness, self-assurance, and ability to enjoy social interactions.

Annie is a certified BodyMind Psychotherapist and BodyMind Centering® teacher, as well as an author and international public speaker. She is a skilled movement educator and therapist with over 30 years experience working in clinics, hospitals, public schools, and private practice. Annie has taught internationally and worked with infants, teens, families, and individuals. She completed her doctorate in perinatal psychology and human sexuality; with a focus on infant development, somatic education, sacred sexuality, and the sacred arts. Her community work and international training includes both lay person courses and advanced training courses for therapists. Topics include: Somatic Attachment Training, BodyMind Psychotherapy, BodyMind Centering®, Infants and Bonding, Healthy Sexuality, Early Attachment and Adult Intimacy, Perinatal Psychology, Contact Improvisation, and Aquatic Attachment Training.

Annie is a published poet and wrote a column for Tantra: The Magazine. She is creative in the somatic field and has written articles, developed numerous audio and video tapes on movement education, and published numerous books on movement/psychology-based learning: "Contact Improvisation and BodyMind Centering," "From Conception to Crawling, “Attachment, Imprints, and Intimacy, and "Sexuality and the Sacred." In addition, Annie loves the outdoors and was an adventure guide in Africa, Alaska, and Mexico where she lead hiking treks and sea kayaking trips.
